CINE SENTOS | SHOW CASA COR BH 2022

This project, called Cine Sentidos (Cinema of the Senses), was developed for the Casa Cor 2022 exhibition in Belo Horizonte, through the revitalization of an old cinema located in the official residence of the governors of Minas Gerais, the Palácio das Mangabeiras — a historical space that, by being opened to the public, gains new meanings and possibilities for use.

The proposal stemmed from the challenge of rescuing the essence of cinema while adapting it to a new reality: a versatile environment, prepared to host pocket events, presentations, and immersive experiences. More than restoring, the project reinvents the space, transforming it into a sensory environment where image, sound, and architecture interact in an integrated way.

The geometry of the environment and the choice of materials were carefully considered in conjunction with the interior design, ensuring not only a sophisticated and welcoming aesthetic but also the acoustic performance necessary for the quality of projections and presentations. Elements such as coverings, curtains, and surfaces contributed to reverberation control and the creation of a balanced sound environment, favoring both intelligibility and immersion.

The stage lighting, combined with the warm materiality of the wood and the deep tones of the furniture, reinforces the intimate character of the space, creating an enveloping atmosphere that invites people to linger. The integration with the bar and social area expands the use of the space, making it not only a place for screenings but also a meeting point.

Cine Sentidos is thus born as a space that preserves memory, values experience, and projects the future—conceived to remain alive and functioning even after the end of the exhibition, consolidating itself as a place of culture, encounters, and sensations.
