CONTEMPORARY HALL

The acoustic design for the retrofit of the former Mercado da Boca, transformed into the Contemporâneo Hall in Nova Lima, stemmed from the challenge of acoustically qualifying a large, multifunctional space capable of hosting everything from large-scale social events to concerts and lectures. The proposal considered the flexibility of use of the space, allowing it to function both in an integrated and sectorized manner, always with acoustic performance appropriate to each type of event.

On the first floor, marked by the presence of an extensive ribbed slab and large glass panels, the strategy adopted was the application of acoustic materials to the slab's joists, directly controlling reverberation without interfering with the architectural reading of the space. On the second floor, with its high ceilings and roof, suspended acoustic clouds were designed, carefully planned and dimensioned to guarantee sound efficiency even under conditions of high occupancy and different usage configurations.

The result is a versatile and technically prepared environment, where the acoustics allow for events with sound quality, comfort, and clarity—whether a large celebration, a musical performance, or a corporate presentation. A space where architecture and acoustics work together to enhance the audience experience at all scales of use.
